Grabbing a bite Empty
PostSubject: Grabbing a bite   Grabbing a bite Icon_minitimeWed Sep 05, 2007 1:40 pm

Terra Santhas jogged past the students slowly making their way to the cafeteria for their own lunch periods. Some of them gave her a weird look, but most of them understood-whatever speed most people were going at, Terra would go one 'gear' faster. It wasn't that she was trying to show people up, it was just the way she was and what she loved-and what she loved was to go as fast as the moment allowed her.

Finally, she reached the cafeteria and slipped into the lunch line, ready for her lunch of excellently prepared food. Thanking her parents for her tall height, she looked over the heads of the students and saw that today's menu appeared to be Chicken Parmesan, with a side of garden salad. Terra loaded up her plate, and then jogged over to her usual table. Feeling as though now was the time, she sung in a voice audible enough to those within two feet of her-as usual, not particularly caring what they thought.

"Here's the day you hoped would never come,
just run with me through row of speeding cars."
Setting her tray down, she continued her song, her eyes searching, wondering why her friends seemed to walk so slow.

"Every day it's getting worse, do the same things and it hurts-" Isabella's singing was, as usual, being drowned out by the numorous amount of other students within the school. It wasn't like she was a bad singer, but she did have to work at keeping her voice on tune for all the high pop notes that seemed to be the 'easiest' to sing. Sometimes, she easily disagreed with the people who said singing was easy. It wasn't easy at all. Always running out of breath, forgetting the words, singing off key, and all the other crap....there were a lot easier things to do.

Bella gave up on her singing as she made her way to lunch. She bopped her head along to the music as it changed to something from Fall Out Boy. Ah yes. Wonderful band. Seriously.

Bell pointed to what she wanted for lunch, salad and a water, and then paid quickly, eager to get out of the lunch line where, as usual, stupid people who she didn't care about kept greeting her. Hello, if Isabella didn't talk to you first, or didn't normally talk to you, you don't talk to her. It's like, social suicide in a can. Just open and BAM! You're life is flushed down the toilet. Isabella found herself making a toilet flushing sound outloud, she blushed and bowed her head slightly, her blond hair flowing into her eyes.

She plopped her tray on to a table and sat down, and then looked to see who was sitting there. She smiled slightly. "Hey, Terra," she greeted, sliding her own headphones down around her neck. She glanced at Terra's full plate....If Bella ever ate any more than a couple bites of salad, she'd probably puke. She half envied those who could eat so much more without feeling so blah.

Isabella tucked a piece of blond hair behind her ear as she reached for her fork. She stabbed a piece of lettuce that had a tomato on top of it. She quickly brought the food to her mouth, biting it off the fork, careful to make sure none of it dropped on her rather expensive outfit. Plus, the skirt was white. White skirts and tomatoes don't mix. it was simple, but Isabella hadn't wanted that chicken that day.....

She let herself look downwards at her outfit. A pretty white mini with a light blue tank top, thick heeled shoes to top off the outfit part. Ah, and she didn't even bother to glance at her many braclets and necklace. It wasn't needed, she already knew how good the outfit looked....but it was always nice to get compliments as she often did. People she didn't even know would sometimes say "you look great, Bella!" in the hallways. Sorta scary actually. But a good scary....

She turned her attention back to Terra, realizing it was rude to say hello and then totally tune the girl out. After all, Isabella hated it when she herself got tuned out by the smarter kids in the classes when she was talking. ...plus, starting and ending a conversation was out that period. Check in last period, you had to end the conversation if you started it. Gah! Some things changed to fast even for Bella's liking.

She looked up and saw Isabella Hayes, a girl in the same grade as she whom she knew from the numerous Drama Club productions. Funnily enough, the two of them were often the lead/supporting lead girls in the plays that their school put on. It didn't bother Terra to end up with the supporting role, but she didn't know if it bothered Isabella or not, and it it did, how badly. Either way, she wasn't planning on asking-keeping things pleasant in the school was difficult, because everything, absolutely everything was so competitive. After all, most of these kids had gotten in because they had amazing talent and expected to show off that they were the best of the best. Those who didn't have talent, had money, and they were used to getting what they wanted at any cost. Nevertheless, Terra loved the school. Smiling back at Isabella, she nodded cordially, finishing the bite that she had been slowly chewing and savoring. When she had finished, she greeted her with a casual,

"Hello, Bella. Enjoying the music as usual?" She put down her fork and wiped her hands neatly on one of the cloth napkins that she had been given with her meal. "Speaking of music, I got a tip from an inside source that there's going to be a new nightclub opening tomorrow night called Essence. Apparently, it's sixteen to twenty one year olds, and they're supposed to get real bands, not just local ones that play down at the school night club. You in?" The fact that she had an Algebra 2 test the morning after dimly registered in Terra's mind, but, as usual, she shrugged it off, figuring that she could study during her easiest class, Latin. The teacher usually gave them packets of worksheets which she finished quickly in about fifteen minutes, leaving her forty five minutes of available studying for Algebra. "It could be like, a Drama Club outing, since the auditions for the fall musical are next week. What production are we doing anyways? The last I heard, Miss Nega was trying to decide betweeen 42nd Street and You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown or a 'secret weapon play'."

She used quotes around the last one, and screwed up her face at the second to last one. "I hope she goes with the first, between those. Unless the 'secret weapon play'" Again, she used air quotes. "Is something like Aida." As usual, the brunette had let herself speed away with her thoughts, possibly leaving her companion behind.

Isabella laughed. Of course she waas enjoying the music. It was extremely hard not to enjoy music...and if you didn't enjoy it, you belonged in the mental home. Although, some music lovers belonged in the mental home as well. Oh well, if you didn't love music, you espicially belonged in the mental home. Bella mentally laughed at herself. She nodded, "Loving the music, as usual."

She listened to Terra as the other girl talked. New night club, eh? she thought to herself. Isabella smiled brightly. "I'm soooo in! Sounds super fabulous." Her smile grew as her terra kept on talking about the new club. Wonderful! No lousy bands! "woo! It gets soooo annoying when all the little people who think they're good come and play. No crowd ever reacts well to them."

Bella took a minute, as she let her friend ramble on, to daintly pick at her salad. it was great and everything, but she was hardly hungry anways....She stabbed a piece of lettuce with her fork and brought it to her mouth. She chewed slowly, remembering something she head read somewhere before. If you chewed it all, slowly, your body would take less of the fat and store it. "Ohhh! The fall musical!" Bella exclaimed happily. She loved the musicals. She and Terra normally ended up with leads or one of the bigger supporting roles in the school plays and such. Everything was so competitive here, that even Isabella could get caught up in being mad at Terra for beating her out for a part sometimes. Of course, Bella had to get over it quickly so she could concentrate on everything else that was going on at the school. And of course, there was no real reward with being angry with someone- after all, there was always the next play. "Well, let's hope she picks a good one...even great actresses have a hard time with terrible musicals."

The brunette grinned to Bella's response to enjoying her music, as always. That was one of the great things about people involved in the arts-they generally loved music, like she did, and wouldn't mind the random musical outbursts that she was prone to get. The people on her track team often wondered what could be better than running. "Well, that's good."

Terra giggled, "I'm glad you're in. It's no fun club-hopping unless you have a partner in crime. And yeah, the fact that the bands will actually make the crowd get up and dance and not get up and leave is sure to be a plus." She put another forkful of salad in her mouth and chewed, not at all concerned like Isabella was about fat storage and what not.

"Right you are, mi amiga. Luckily, in the past, Miss Nega has usually had the good taste to go with the musical that would not have all of her best people," she winked indicating that she counted herself and Bella among that group, "end up not doing a show at all." As she began eating some more of her salad, she indeed wondered if she would do that. True, she loved Drama Club, and wouldn't want to miss a show...but what if it was a show she didn't like? Heaven knew that she would do with some free time on her hands...not that she wanted it or anything. Being busy was what made Terra's life fun.
